Simon Wickham-Smith was born in West Sussex in 1968 and educated at King's College, University of London. Having spent his teens immersed in medieval and experimental musics, he started making music with Richard Youngs in 1987, only applying himself full-time to composition in 1999.

Almost all his work is concerned in some way with spirituality, with the human voice and with their intercourse in the bowels of his computer.
