Biographical Notes Born 1960.
Maria has been working on projects as varied as a commission from the contemporary music ensemble GEMINI to DUDLEY PHILLIPS' String Sextet and HUW WARREN'S "Barrel organ Far From Home" (CD 1997); UK tour Spring 1998.

An initiation into a varied and fast-moving musical world in London until her move to Wales, began with a 'thorough-bred classical training at the Royal Academy of Music, moving to a watershed experience of experimental contemporary music at Goldsmiths' college followed hy explorative postgraduate composition/jazz studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Collaborations have involved work with REGULAR MUSIC, CAMBERWELL NOW, SHELLEYAN ORPHAN, JUNE TABOR, JOHN CAGE, IAN MITCHELL, and in 1990 the BBC SINGERS broadcast a performance from St Johns Smith Square of her piece CHANT.

Recent collaborations with improvising musicians MARK LOCKHEART, HUW WARREN, DUDLEY PHIILLIPS, STEVE ARGUELLES and CHRISTINE TOBIN have inspired Maria album project : myrrhMyrrh. This is scheduled to record in late 1997, to be released on the Babel Label in 1998, followed by a British tour.

In stark contrast, concurrent project Ragged edges identifies the versatility and imagination of Maria's musical voice. Here she collaborates with her brother EMLYN , his DJ circle RADIO ECCLES, and JOE TOWNSEND creating a wild strings/desks cacophony, strikingly representative of world music.

She is also Wales' coordinator for COMA (a UK network for the promotion of contemporary music making for amateurs) and music advisor at Plas tan yr Allt Centre for Waldorf Education
